Feelings Going Forward (これからの気持ち, Korekara no Kimochi?) is the sixth chapter of Volume 4 of the My Happy Marriage novel.

Summary[]

After the attack, Miyo's movements are even more restricted, and she can no longer go anywhere unaccompanied. She spends most of her days doing mending work in Kiyoka's office. One day, Mukadeyama requests to borrow her for a short while. Initially, Kiyoka refuses, but sensing Mukadeyama's resolve, he allows it. Mukadeyama takes Miyo to the empty dojo, the only place where they can talk calmly, and bows deeply to the ground, apologizing for his domineering behavior towards her before. He explains that if Miyo hadn’t stepped out during Usui's attack, he and his men would have lost their lives. On Kiyoka's advice, Miyo forgives him, expressing that it was pure luck her action turned out well. Kiyoka, feeling accountable for failing to make the right call during Naoshi's assault, decides not to discipline Mukadeyama. Mukadeyama promises Miyo that he will try to change the other men’s views and strive for the unit to become a proper meritocracy, for Kaoruko's sake as well.

Leaving Mukadeyama to his duties, Kiyoka and Miyo head back to his office. As they walk through the corridors and pass rooms, the memories of her moments with Kaoruko in these places flood Miyo's mind. Missing Kaoruko, who is currently being held at the military headquarters, awaiting sentencing, Miyo pleads with Kiyoka to do anything to save her. However, Kiyoka sharply refuses, emphasizing that letting Kaoruko off the hook would set a bad example, and he calls Miyo selfish for making such a request. Miyo is forced to drop the topic.

As time passes, on New Year's Eve, Miyo and Kiyoka arrive at the Kudou main estate for a small lunch get-together hosted by Hazuki. The two of them have been somewhat awkward around each other ever since their argument about Kaoruko. Guests begin to arrive, starting with a fully recovered Godou, followed by Arata, who had been extremely busy tailing Usui to make up for his blunder. The next guest is Kazushi, causing a stir as soon as he sees Godou. The last guest is dropped off by Ookaito, who receives a gift from Hazuki for their son. To Miyo's surprise, this guest is Kaoruko, who immediately tearfully apologizes for causing so much trouble. She hadn't been acquitted of any crimes due to their severity. Miyo, with a warm smile, expresses her hope they can continue being friends, to which Kaoruko happily agrees.
