Circling Emotions (巡る想い, Meguru Omoi?) is the fourth chapter of Volume 3 of the My Happy Marriage novel.

Summary[]

Miyo welcomes Kiyoka back to the Kudou villa. Noticing his cold hands, she wraps hers around them, which leads to a playful moment between them as Kiyoka teases her about how forward she is. Back in his room, he wraps Miyo and himself up in a blanket while they sit together in front of the fireplace. Kiyoka asks Miyo about her day. She hesitates but eventually shares her troubling encounter with Fuyu. Kiyoka becomes furious, not because of what happened, but because Fuyu tried to harm Miyo's dignity out of spite, something he cannot tolerate. Miyo, not fully comprehending this, expresses her gratitude for his support and asks Kiyoka to watch over her a little longer until she gives up facing Fuyu on her own.

After dinner, when Miyo is bathing, Kiyoka works on a report about the mission and then joins his father in the cigar room. They share sake, and Tadakiyo asks about Miyo's emotional state. Kiyoka says that she's accustomed to pain and isn't depressed by what happened. Tadakiyo inquires about the captive man that Kiyoka has confined in the villa's basement. During interrogation the man revealed that the true name of the Nameless Order is the Gifted Communion. Kiyoka suspects the man is brainwashed or influenced. His words are vague, attributing his Gift to God and considering it sacred. He claims their teachings are holy, and those who oppose them hinder human evolution. As things has escalated beyond just Grotesqueries, Kiyoka needs to coordinate with the Imperial Capital and sent off a familiar. Tadakiyo deduces that the suspicious men around the villa are part of the same group. When Kiyoka asks his father to take care of Miyo if the situation becomes dire, Tadakiyo expresses his surprise at Kiyoka relying on him for such a task. He remarks that Kiyoka's concern for Miyo indicates deep feelings of love, leading Kiyoka to realize, to his own astonishment, that he does indeed love Miyo.

Meanwhile, information from Kiyoka spreads quickly through the government and the military headquarters in the capital, leading to a sense of urgency. Arata is summoned to the Imperial Palace by Prince Takaihito, and is instructed to exchange information with the Special Anti-Grotesquerie Unit and then head to the Kudou villa to see Kiyoka the following morning. Arata accepts the mission and feels a sense of foreboding regarding a confrontation with the Usuba family's past.
