Quivering, Embarrassed (揺れて、照れて, Yurete, Terete?) is the second chapter of Volume 3 of the My Happy Marriage novel.
Summary[]
Miyo, nervous due to her first train ride, travels with Kiyoka and Tadakiyo for half a day to a hot springs town. Sasaki, the butler, picks them up there and drives them to the Kudou villa. After arrival, Fuyu coldly silences her husband when he greets her, reproaches Kiyoka for not visiting them for a long time, and harshly criticizes Miyo for being shabby and ugly upon her introduction. Kiyoka angrily rebukes and warns her that he will kill her the next time she says anything to Miyo.
In their suite on the second floor, Kiyoka apologizes for the ordeal. Miyo forgives him and pledges to do her best to form a good relationship with his mother. Kiyoka promises to watch over her. He then invites her to join him for a work outing in a nearby farming village, where horned fiend sightings have been reported. At the village, they greet a jizo statue at the entrance and visit a gift shop. Miyo buys animal ornaments and Kiyoka a large sake barrel. The shopkeeper warns them about suspicious strangers in a nearby shack. Kiyoka plans to investigate it tomorrow by himself.
Returning to the villa, the maid Nae informs them that Fuyu won't be at dinner. After a peaceful dinner and a bath, Miyo realizes there's only one bed in their room. When Kiyoka enters the room, she jumps in surprise and voices her concerns, but he is nonchalant about the prospect of sharing a bed. However, Miyo still panics, and asks for a separate room.
