This is the My Happy Marriage Wiki's Manual of Style, where the guidelines for creating and editing articles are listed. Please read carefully before you make an edit. Any repeated offenses will result in a ban. Questions about policy should be directed to the administrators' message walls.
Note:
- This wiki prioritizes the novels as the primary source. All other adaptations are secondary sources, so please keep this in mind when you edit.
Perspective[]
- Articles should be written with in-universe wording, meaning that editors are writing from the perspective of an observer in the universe of My Happy Marriage. This means that phrases such as "In Chapter 3" or "In Episode 6" shouldn't be used anywhere in articles except for the Trivia sections.
- Editors must maintain a completely neutral and objective perspective when writing, meaning that there are no bias or personal opinions in edits. Avoid writing statements such as "This character is a bad person" and instead explain how they are a bad person by describing their behavior, actions, and how other characters describe them.
General writing style[]
- This is an English language wiki, so edits must be made in American English with understandable grammar.
- Maintain a formal and encyclopedic tone when editing. Avoid using slang, euphemisms, and profanity unless directly quoting a character's words.
- All articles must be written in third-person.
- Use the official romanizations in Yen Press' latest translation of the novels for all names and terms, with the exception of:
- Manga chapter titles from Square Enix USA, the licensor of the manga
- Anime episode titles from Netflix, the licensor of the anime
- Follow the capitalization in the novels as-is. For example, Gift is capitalized when it is used to refer to the powers and abilities displayed in the series.
- Keep the tenses of articles/sections consistent.
- Background sections of character pages should be written in past tense. All other sections should be written in present tense (unless there is a flashback to a past event).
- Articles for deceased characters should be written in past tense throughout.
- For novel and manga chapter pages as well as episode pages, use present tense for the entire section unless there is a flashback to a past event.
- Characters should be called by the name they are most often called throughout the novels. For example, "Godou" should be used when writing about Yoshito Godou instead of his first name "Yoshito," because that is the name most often used in the novels' narration.
- All subjects that have a page should be linked.
- However, only the first instance of the term should be linked. There is no need to link every instance.
- Try to paraphrase information as much as possible while retaining the necessary details. Excessively long blocks of text can be difficult to read and turn readers away. However, editors should also avoid filling a page/section with single-sentence or overly short paragraphs. When in doubt, ask an administrator for help.
Page Layout[]
Page Creation[]
- When creating an article, be sure that it is directly related to the wiki and its focus, the My Happy Marriage series by Akumi Agitogi. Make sure the information the article doesn't already exist as another page under another name,
- Before creating an article, ask yourself if there is enough information on the subject to warrant its own article or if it can be added onto an existing article. Not all topics require an article of their own. For example, if a character is only mentioned in passing as part of a flashback and has never appeared in the story, then there would likely not be enough information about them to create an in-depth article.
Layout[]
It is recommended to use the Source Editor to edit pages on the wiki. Editors are encouraged to look at other similar pages on the wiki to get an idea of what an article should look like.
