What I Hate Most... (嫌いなのは..., Kirai na no wa...?) is the ninth chapter of the My Happy Marriage manga adaptation.
Summary[]
Miyo is paralyzed by fear at Kaya's sudden appearance. Kaya, smiling, expresses her surprise at seeing her sister again, as she expected her to be dead by now. She verbally abuses Miyo, assuming she was thrown out by Kiyoka. Kouji tries to stop her, but Kaya ignores him. Miyo desperately wants to talk back to her but is too traumatized by her treatment at the Saimori house. All she could do is apologize while feeling self-hatred at not changing from her old self and having her heart softened enough to be affected by Kaya's words.
Just then, Yurie returns. Kaya assumes that she is Miyo's colleague and politely introduces herself. However, she is shocked when Yurie corrects her, saying that Miyo is far above her station and that she would one day be Kiyoka's wife. She quickly regains her composure and takes her leave. Yurie tells Miyo that they are going home. Miyo is filled with self-hatred and wonders if Yurie is disappointed with her behavior.
Kiyoka meets with Shinichi and Kanoko at the Saimori house to ask for Miyo's hand in marriage. However, the Saimoris will not be receiving any betrothal money unless they apologize sincerely to Miyo for their treatment of her. Kiyoka tells them that he knows all about their abuse of Miyo and that he would simply cut ties with them if they didn't apologize. Shinichi tells him that he will think about it, and Kiyoka warns him that he will not wait long. At that moment, Kaya and Kouji return. Kaya is irritated that Kouji tried to stand up for Miyo and that Kiyoka still hasn't kicked her out yet. She gets even angrier when Kouji refuses to side with her. Just then, Kiyoka passes them by on his way out of the house. Kaya becomes enraptured by his beauty.
