Resurgence (再起, Saiki?) is the twenty-eighth chapter of the My Happy Marriage manga adaptation.
Summary[]
Kazushi and Godou have an emergency meeting with Ookaito at the unit station regarding a flood of reports received last night regarding Grotesquerie sightings near a farming village. The spirits are believed to be from the Burial Grounds and will be more active tonight, so the unit has been tasked with dispatching them. Since Kiyoka is currently absent, Godou will take the lead in his place, while Kazushi will accompany him to inspect the barrier. While Kazushi is disheartened by the work ahead of them, Godou is determined to let Kiyoka enjoy his day off and reminds Kazushi to take his job seriously.
Kiyoka is at home, getting his bullet wound treated by Hazuki using her healing Gift. She is furious upon learning what happened and tells him to go get Miyo back. However, Kiyoka doesn't think he has the right to because he lost the duel honestly and that Miyo might be better off staying at the Usuba house, where her Gift will be kept in check. Hazuki gets increasingly incensed when she learns about Miyo's indecisive response and Kiyoka's cluelessness to her true desire to not burden him with her Gift, as well as their fight over her overworking the day before. Hazuki makes him understand Miyo's emotional state by pointing out that Miyo lacks confidence in herself and will blame herself if he gets angry at her. She thinks that she has no right to stay by his side if he turns away from her. The reason why she is working hard to cultivate herself is so Kiyoka would need her, which is why she couldn't talk to him about it. Kiyoka admits that he jumped to conclusions about Miyo not trusting him and that he never understood her at all.
Encouraged by Hazuki, Kiyoka prepares to return to the Usuba estate and get Miyo back, as well as learn the secrets of the Usuba barrier. Just then, a familiar from Godou arrives, informing him that they need his help fighting a horde of Grotesqueries. Kiyoka changes plans, and Hazuki grudgingly admits that Miyo will blame herself again if he neglects his work. Kiyoka gets changed and is seen off by Hazuki, who tells him to return home safe. Kiyoka, only just now realizing how much peace of mind he felt when he knew Miyo was waiting for him back home, is determined to bring her back after his mission and apologize to her. Meanwhile, Takaihito has a premonition about Kiyoka.

Chapter Notes[]
- The meeting between Kazushi, Godou, and Ookaito is original to the manga.
- The manga does not depict Kiyoka's return home and what he did before Hazuki showed up at his house.
- Hazuki hits Kiyoka four times instead of only twice like in the novel.
- Hazuki says Miyo never had anyone who relied on her before, unlike the novel, where she says that Miyo never had anyone she could rely on.
- Godou tells Kiyoka about the large number of Grotesqueries their unit is fighting and their current location, unlike the novel, where he only tells Kiyoka to come to the station as soon as he hears his message.
- Kiyoka's internal monologue regarding his decision to go to work is not adapted in the manga.
- Hazuki is more approving of Kiyoka's decision to go help his unit first instead of rescuing Miyo in the manga, whereas in the novel, she tells him to hurry up and come back, and that she won't encourage him since she's on Miyo's side.
- The line about Miyo being sad if Kiyoka got hurt in battle is said by Hazuki in the novel instead of Kiyoka.
Trivia[]
- The Manga UP! translation of the chapter title is Comeback.
