The First Breakfast (初めてのあさごはん, Hajimete no Asa Gohan?) is the second chapter of the My Happy Marriage manga adaptation.
Summary[]
A young Miyo is distraught to discover that her mother's kimonos and accessories were all gone. Knowing that it was her stepmother who did this, Miyo decided to go confront her. However, Kanoko was anger that Miyo would dare accuse her and locked her in a storehouse for hours as Miyo begged to be let out.
Miyo wakes up from her dream of her childhood. Earlier that day, Kiyoka told her that she will have to do exactly what he tells her to do. Miyo agreed without protest because this wasn't different from how she was treated back home.
The Kudou family is the most illustrious of all the Gifted families, and the current head, Kiyoka, passed the officers' exam after graduating from university and even commands his own unit in the army. But despite all that, he lives in a simple residence away from town.
Miyo wakes up at a time far too early for a nobleman's wife. She doesn't know what to do as she wasn't trained in the skills that young ladies are supposed to know. Not knowing what to do but wanting to do something, Miyo goes to the kitchen to cook breakfast. As she is preparing the food, the housekeeper Yurie arrives. Yurie thanks Miyo for helping.
The two bring breakfast to Kiyoka. Yurie informs him that Miyo was the one who made his breakfast this morning. Kiyoka tells Miyo to taste it first, but when she hesitates, he assumes that she poisoned it and leaves, telling them to throw it away. Miyo believes she has failed.
