My New Life with Lord Kudo (旦那さまとの新しい生活, Danna-sama to no Atarashii Seikatsu?) is the eighteenth chapter of the My Happy Marriage manga adaptation.

Summary[]

On a hot summer day, Miyo is hanging up laundry in the yard while Kiyoka practices swordplay nearby. Miyo brings him a drink and he notices how flushed she is, unaware that it is because she is flustered by their close proximity. Suddenly, a woman arrives at the house. She introduces herself as Hazuki Kudou, Kiyoka's older sister. Hazuki cheerfully greets Yurie, while Kiyoka exasperated with her lively and upbeat nature. Hazuki explains to Miyo that Kiyoka had invited her here to be her teacher.

Miyo had told Kiyoka she wanted to take lessons to become a gentlewoman in order to fulfill her role as the wife to a prestigious house. Kiyoka, worried as to how she would deal with the extra burden, asked her if she was sure, but Miyo was resolute in wanting to improve herself. Kiyoka noted how pale she was and asked if she was pushing herself to her limits. Miyo blushed when he touched her cheek, causing him to chuckle. Kiyoka relented and told Miyo that he knows someone who would be a good tutor for her and that he would tell her to come. Miyo hadn't expected the tutor to be his sister, but Hazuki enthusiastically proclaims that Miyo will become a magnificent noblewoman.

At the Imperial Palace, the Emperor is lying in his bedchamber and muttering about something being disgusting. A young man enters the room and asks for his permission regarding a certain matter. The Emperor grants his permission but tells him to act at the precise moment. After the man leaves, the Emperor mutters about not being able to "see" anything. He rings for a servant and tells him to "lead the spirits of the Burial Grounds home." The Emperor vows to destroy a certain Gift.
