My Happy Marriage Wiki

Uncompromising (譲れないもの, Yuzurenai Mono?) is the fifteenth chapter of the My Happy Marriage manga adaptation.

Summary[]

Miyo wakes up in the storehouse. At first, she feels apologetic towards Yurie and Kiyoka for causing them trouble, then she realizes where she is. She correctly guesses that Kaya and Kanoko are the ones behind her abduction and is afraid of seeing them. Kaya enters the storehouse and mockingly asks her if she slept well, then sneers that the kimono she is wearing is too beautiful for her. Kanoko slaps Miyo and blames her for causing her life to unravel "again." She repeatedly kicks Miyo while verbally abusing her, then demands that she annul her engagement to Kiyoka immediately. Kaya smugly declares that she will be his wife in her stead and Miyo will have Kouji instead.

Miyo thinks to herself that if she gives in here, this will all go away, just like how she survived in the past. She can harden her heart again and live on her own as a servant. But as she thinks of her time with Kiyoka and Yurie, Miyo finds the resolve to say no to Kaya and Kanoko, as she wants to be the one by Kiyoka's side. Kanoko slaps Miyo again, but Miyo declares that she is Kiyoka's fiancée and that she won't give that position up.

Outside, Shinichi questions the servants as to what happened to the gate. Just then, Kiyoka and Kouji approach him. Kiyoka asks him Miyo's whereabouts. Seeing Shinichi's annoyance at his reason for being here, Kiyoka further asks him if he loves Miyo as his daughter. Shinichi reveals that he sees Miyo as nothing more than a tool for him to use and that he should have gotten rid of her a long time ago. Hearing that, Kiyoka decides to not hold back any longer. Minoru appears and also refuses to Kiyoka where Miyo is, claiming that she has stated that she doesn't want to see or return with him. Kiyoka does not believe him and threatens to use force to get pass them. The two family heads create a double barrier, but Kiyoka easily walks through it and overpowers the two.

Kouji guesses that Miyo would be held in the storehouse, but just as they are about to go there, Minoru launches a vortex of fire at them, but it's blocked by Kiyoka's barrier. The Saimori house catches on fire. Minoru rushes at the two, but Kiyoka shocks him unconscious. Kouji is disheartened that his father clearly didn't care if he burned to death here. He leads Kiyoka to the storehouse.
