She took care of Miyo when she was a baby and continued to care for Miyo after Sumi died. Years after Hana was dismissed by the Saimori family for sticking up for Miyo, she got married and had a child.

Neither Hana's maiden name nor married name have been revealed in the novels. Her presumed married name, Kanao, only appears in the credits of Episode 4,[1] even though the character has previously been credited simply as Hana (花?) in Episode 2.[2]
