Determination and Thunder (決意と雷鳴, Ketsui to Raimei?) is the sixth episode of the My Happy Marriage anime series.
Synopsis[]
Miyo wakes up to her sister and stepmother threatening her. Together with Kouji, Kiyoka arrives at the Saimori home and demands to see his fiancée.[1]
Summary[]
Miyo Saimori calls for help after realizing her situation. Kouji Tatsuishi and Kiyoka Kudou head for the Saimori estate to save Miyo. Kanoko Saimori orders Miyo to reject Kiyoka’s marriage proposal, but Kaya Saimori threatens to ruin Miyo’s kimono if she doesn’t accept Kanoko’s terms. Kaya promises to give Miyo Kouji back and plans to wed Kiyoka instead. Despite snipping a piece of Miyo’s kimono, Miyo doesn’t want to let go of her desire to marry Kiyoka. Kanoko slaps Miyo as Kaya cuts the rope Miyo’s hanging from to let her fall to the ground. Kaya criticizes Miyo, saying she has no redeemable qualities and is an embarrassment to the Saimori family. Miyo stands her ground and tells Kanoko and Kaya that she’ll become Kiyoka’s wife whether they like it or not, angering them as they hear someone attacking the house.
Meanwhile, Kouji and Kiyoka arrive. Kiyoka uses lightning to strike destroy the gate and demands Shinichi Saimori tell him where Miyo is. Minoru Tatsuishi tells Kiyoka that Miyo won’t be returning to his household any longer, but he refuses to believe him, since Kouji told him everything he did. Realizing Minoru won’t tell him where he’s hiding Miyo, Kiyoka plans to use force to get what he wants. Kiyoka fights Shinichi and Minoru. Despite their efforts, Minoru and Shinichi are no match for Kiyoka and he overpowers them. Kanoko loses her patience and forces Miyo to reject Kiyoka’s offer. Once again, Miyo refuses to back down.
At the same time, Kouji tells Kiyoka that the Saimoris’ likely put Miyo in the storehouse. Before they can go there, Minoru, refusing to give up Miyo, attempts to stop Kiyoka once again and attacks him with his pyrokinetic power, which causes the Saimori residence being set on fire, but Kiyoka defeats him by striking at him with his lightning attack, putting an end to his rampage for good. Shinichi collapses on his knees to the ground, lamenting in despair, even Kouji questioning why Minoru would go this far in his obsession to keep Miyo.
As Kaya yells at Miyo to reject the marriage offer, Miyo contemplates her life with her family and Kiyoka. Kiyoka comes to Miyo’s aid as she falls unconscious from the abuse she received from Kaya and Kanoko. They both are shocked to see Kiyoka and Kanoko looks outside and notices the disastrous aftermath caused by Kiyoka’s battle with Minoru, with Kanoko breaking down in despair over the loss of her home.
Kiyoka asks Kaya what she tried to achieve by hurting Miyo. Kaya denies this and tells Kiyoka that she’s the one who should’ve been set up with him and not Miyo. She brags about how inferior Miyo is compared to her, resulting in Kiyoka telling her to shut her mouth and when she approaches Kiyoka about being his fiancée, he angrily dismisses her stating that he will never be with a selfish, arrogant girl like her. This shatters her ego as she helplessly watches as Kiyoka leaves with Miyo in his arms.
Kouji urges a broken Kaya to evacuate the area with him, but she yells at him to leave her and that he only cares about Miyo. He yells at her to shut up and openly admits that she is right that the only person he cares about is Miyo. However, he states that he won't leave her to die as he doesn’t want Kaya’s death to be another burden for Miyo, also warning her that he won't allow her to hurt Miyo ever again.
In a dream, Miyo sees her mother, Sumi Usuba. Sumi apologizes to Miyo for the rough life she led and tells her to believe in the power she holds inside herself.
Somewhere else, an elderly man is infuriated with Minoru’s failure. A young man asks this man for permission to execute a plan that’ll aid him in his endeavors.
Miyo awakens inside Kiyoka’s home, and Kiyoka comforts her. Yurie enters the room, happy to see Miyo doing fine. Kiyoka tells Miyo that they’re happy she’s okay.
