The maiden of Dream-Sight is able to enter the dreams of any person they choose and manipulate them. Humans have to sleep, so there's no defense against it. Anyone can be manipulated. Even brainwashing is possible. Who they are or how powerful they are means nothing. And that's not even the half of it. If you were able to develop this talent, the power you have, the past, the present, future, you would be capable of unlimited power within the world of dreams.
Dream-Sight (夢見の力, Yumemi no chikara?) is an omnipotent power over a person’s slumber.[1]
Description[]
Dream-Sight is one of the special powers possessed by the Usuba family, that enables them to manipulate the minds of others and is designed to target humans instead of Grotesqueries.
Even stacked up against the other powers in the clan, it boasts exceptional strength and it is considered by some as the strongest Gift of all.[1]
Dream-Sight can be used for a variety of purposes, which includes clairvoyance, as well as finding lost objects, and manipulating dreams.[2]
Depending on how capable the user is, they can see all of the past, present, and future in their sleep — in other words, the skill surpasses even the Emperor’s own Divine Revelation.[1] Because of this, the ability has been highly valued since ancient times.[2]
People with the ability can also enter the dreams of any sleeping person, including themselves, and manipulate their dreams. Since everyone needs to sleep at some point, the user is capable of manipulating the mind of anyone just by using Dream-Sight, no matter how strong they may be.
It’s even possible to brainwash people with the ability,[1] by instructing the target to act, or try to correct the other person's mistakes.
The Dream-Sight user could disguise as some deity in the dream. In ancient folk tales, divine visitation is a common phenomenon where gods, Buddhas or ancestors come to a sleeping person's dream or bedside to foretell the future or give directives.[2]
To use the ability, the user first has to lock the target of their Dream-Sight. If they can be in contact with a part of the target's body, the effect of the ability will become more powerful and stable.
Then, while being aware of the Gift in their body, the user has to formulate a clear purpose for the action, for example to have a glimpse of the past and future or to sneak into someone's dream.
Finally, the user has to think about the purpose they want to perform, and use the Gift on the locked target - the same as using other Gifts.[2]
Dream-Sight users[]
The Gift has manifested only in a select number of female Gift-users throughout the family’s long history.
In records of Gift-users with Dream-Sight, there was only one born every few decades. Not once had an individual with the ability passed it on to the subsequent generation.
The mothers of those blessed with Dream-Sight always possessed another supernatural power, Telepathy, regardless of the strength of their mother’s powers.[1]

Miyo in a shrine maiden attire
Gift-Users with Dream-Sight used to be called Dream-Sight Mediums (夢見の巫女, Yumemi no miko?, lit. "Dream-seeing shrine maiden"). As a holdover from those days, it is customary for those with Dream-Sight to wear the same style of outfit as their forebears. The attire consists of a hakama-type of kimono, the kind a shrine maiden would wear.[1]
Within the Usuba family codes, if a user of Dream-Sight should appear, she should be protected and supported by the entire family.
For generations, a chosen Gift-user within the family bears the role of providing them with constant care and giving their life to protect them, they also act as the spouse, and the Emperor will never find out.[1]
History[]

Miyo enters the dream world for the first time
As Gift-user births are declining already, and girls born with Telepathy rarely came along, a Dream-Sight user hadn’t been born for a long time.[1]
It has been more than hundred years ago since the last Dream-Sight Medium lived.[2]
The history of the Dream-Sight Mediums recorded in handwritten notes and documents is always full of turmoil. Some of them work side by side with other Gifted people to fight Grotesqueries, and some are responsible for suppressing unscrupulous people who abuse their powers.
Once there is a war, they will secretly make many martial arts practitioner with extraordinary skills powerless. As long as the emperor orders it, they will use their Gift. Even if the target is not a Gift-user nor a criminal who has committed crimes, there will be no exception.
The Dream-Sight Mediums of all generations have experienced the inner conflict between good and evil.[2]
Currently, Miyo, the daughter of telepathy user Sumi Usuba, possesses this ability. Knowing a child with the ability would be exploited and having no hope of living a normal, happy life, Sumi had sealed Miyo’s supernatural power away and pretended that Miyo didn’t have any.[1]
Plot[]
Miyo touch the cherry blossom tree to undo the sealing of what her mother did.[3]
As Miyo use the power of the Dream-Sight to regain Kiyoka's unconsciousness from his coma, the Emperor uses his power to get rid of these two, first said, "Be gone now! This is my will!" as to summon hordes of Grotesqueries, but they have been protected by a barrier. Finally, he used the Grotesquerie form of the Emperor as the Emperor said in the demonic voice, "Upon my rule, you both must die!" But Miyo use the power with Kumihimo to defeat the Emperor and his servants and the Grotesqueries "Be gone!" The Grotesquerie form of the Emperor have been destroyed, as the flame killed the Emperor and his servants by Miyo.[4]
Volume 2[]
Following instructions by Arata Usuba, Miyo used Dream-Sight to enter Kiyoka Kudou's subconsciousness and successfully rescued Kiyoka, who was trapped there by the Grotesqueries from the Burial Grounds.[5]
Volume 3[]
When Miyo was staying at Kudou villa, she used Dream-Sight to save a village youth who was attacked by a fiend in the nearby village.[6][7]
